This Mexican-inspired Frozen Watermelon Margarita recipe uses fresh watermelon, honey, orange juice and laced with triple sec and tequila.
This Mexican-inspired Frozen Watermelon Margarita recipe can be served on the rocks or as sweet slushy. Light and refreshing and perfect drink for summer.
With a splash of tequila, you might think all margaritas are the same. Not so.
Some margaritas stand above the others in freshness and flavor, while others are, well, same-old, same-old.
Need a twist of the wild side? Then you’re going to love my Mexican-inspired Frozen Watermelon Margarita recipe.
This recipe evolved around the same time I came up with my Watermelon Glazed Salmon recipe. Since I used watermelon in that recipe, I thought to myself, “Hey, why not try it out as a margarita.”
Thus, my Frozen Watermelon Margarita recipe was created.
Obviously, I wanted to stay true to the standard margarita cocktail recipe, pure and simple.
So, after tweaking this cocktail recipe several times, I came up with my new go-to summer drink.
You’ll love it because it mixes up in about five minutes or so and makes a pitcher of the freshest, slushiest margaritas this side of the Mexican border.
How to Make Frozen Watermelon Margarita Recipe
Start out with four cups of watermelon, the juice of one lemon, two limes and a cup of orange juice, along with a bit of sweetness from some honey and simple syrup.
Place everything into a blender, including the tequila, Triple Sec and ice, and blend until the consistency is just right–think smooth or chunky, according to your preference.
Did You Know? This recipe for Frozen Watermelon Margarita is also great sans alcohol (think virgin version). Just omit the tequila and triple sec and blend away per the recipe instructions!
Once blended, prepare the margarita glass rims with either salt or sugar. To get either to stick to the rim, rub it first with a lime slice, then twist the rim in the salt or sugar.
Finally, it’s time to pour the drink, add a lemon slice (or lime–or both) for garnish and serve immediately. Enjoy!
