This homemade fish and seafood seasoning blend is a mix of flavors that you can use as a dry rub or as an inclusion in any recipe that uses fresh or salt water fish or seafood.

Seafood shouldn’t taste bland. That would be a no-no, especially when you consider that there’s so many spices and herbs that can brighten (and/or lighten) the flavors that each kind of seafood brings to your table.

And, considering many fish and seafood, in many locales, aren’t cheap, you want your dishes to be the best that they can be.

So how do you let your fish and seafood shine? The answer is simple: use a seafood seasoning blend that is made just for such meat.

My Fish and Seafood Seasoning Blend is a mix of 11 herbs and spices that can be used as a dry rub or as a seasoning during or after cooking.

If you’ve heard the expression “a little bit goes a long way,” this is true with this melange of spices. Start with a pinch or a teaspoon or so of spice and increase as you go.

But I think you’ll find yourself making and using more of this spice blend again and again.

Make a larger batch of this spice blend simply by increasing the ingredients amounts equally to 1 tablespoon or more.

Cooking Tip: This seafood seasoning is a tasty addition to your favorite fish or seafood boils, too.

Best of all, it’s a gluten free and MSG free blend that you can use with all sorts of seafood, including:

  • shrimp
  • crabs, crab legs
  • whitefish
  • trout
  • mahimahi
  • halibut
  • tuna
  • cod
  • scallops
  • mussels
  • sunfish
  • catfish
  • prawns
  • crayfish
  • clams

But don’t feel you have to limit yourself by just seasoning fish and seafood. Try sprinkling it vegetables or incorporating it into your favorite dip recipe—or for that matter, on your favorite non-seafood dishes too!

How to Make Fish and Seasoning Blend Recipe

Mix all of the spices listed in the recipe below in a bowl and store in an airtight container until it’s time to use.

I like to use a mortar and pestle to grind the spices together. This also allows each herb and spice to be combined more fully into a rub that is even in taste and texture.

Finally, store it in an airtight container. This spice blend has a shelf life of approximately three months. Enjoy!
