This quick and easy Eggnog Latte is a favorite adult holiday hot alcohol coffee drink that can be made with or without rum. Ready in two minutes.
How to Make Eggnog Latte
I love winters in Wisconsin but that doesn’t mean I don’t also love the idea of warm beaches and sands of someplace south.
Maybe that’s why I can’t get enough of eggnog and coffee with a touch of rum. When you put them together especially during the coldest time of the year, you have an adult drink that will definitely warm you from head to toe.
Now that being said, could you make this drink sans alcohol? Absolutely! Rum isn’t essential–only if you want it to be. The recipe, however, includes rum but it tastes great with or without it.
I like to start out with espresso. Two shots work best. My coffee of choice is Nespresso Ristretto expresso. This is one of Nespresso’s darkest Grand Crus coffees. It has the taste of an Italian roast coffee with a delightful caffeinated punch.
To this, add one cup of high quality eggnog, along with 1/4 tsp of nutmeg. I love Oberweis’ Eggnog. But if you cannot find it where you live, an alternate brand works just as good.

Now onto the rum. You could choose a premium brand, that’s totally up to you. But for this recipe, you can go a bit less expensive and choose a middle of the road dark rum that’s an island favorite like Havana Club.
Once you’ve added this, microwave the drink on high for approximately 1 minute or heat on the stove on medium heat until warmed. Either way, stir well and serve hot in your favorite mug or heatproof glass.
I like to top mine with a bit of nutmeg, whipped cream and a sprig of mint. Yum!
- 2 oz espresso coffee
- 1 1/2 tbsp dark rum
- 1 1/2 cups eggnog
- nutmeg to garnish
- whipped cream to garnish
- mint leaves to garnish
In a heatproof glass or small sauce pan, add all of the ingredients, except the garnishes. Heat through until warm, not hot. Serve immediately in your favorite heatproof glass or mug. Enjoy!
