DIY Spa Day Ideas - 1 - Wisconsin Homemaker

When life gets too hectic and the feeling of wanting to run away to a spa sounds inviting, well don’t despair. You can have it all–peace and tranquility, along with much needed “Me Time”–with these amazing at-home spa day ideas.

Truth be told, we all get the urge to want to get away and put the reality of life behind us at one time or other. That’s why the idea of having a spa day at home is so inviting.

And, no, you don’t have to spend a lot to get the same benefits of rest and relaxation.

Best of all, you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home and brave more driving and traffic angst. Instead, you can warm up your bath or shower, turn on soothing music, light scented candles and just let the tranquility of a home spa treatment rejuvenate your weary soul.

So the next time you want (or need) a spa day at home, check out these fabulous ideas that you can do it yourself:

1. Relaxing Spa Music

Sometimes termed New Age Music, I like to think of spa music as a way to disconnect from the daily grind. It’s soothing undertones help your mind destress and focus on relaxation and healing the mind and soul. Certainly, you work hard day in and day out, so much so that sometimes you need to just pamper yourself with sounds of nature and the universe.

2. Salt and Sugar Scrubs

Believe it or not, we attract not only dirt and grime from our daily tasks at home and work but also toxins. That’s the beauty of salt and sugar scrubs. By the very nature of their crystalline structures they naturally remove these dirt and toxins layer by layer right down to your silky skin.

3. Take a Deep Soak

There’s something to the phrase: “Calgon take me away.” Sure, I’m dating myself but what this phrase really means is the joy you get from a deep soak in a warm tub of water. And, what better way than with a scented bath thanks to a DIY bath bomb. Bath bombs come in a variety of scents. I love lavender but of course, use your own favorite scent and if you’re adventurous make some yourself.

4. Manicure Perfect

When I think of spa day, I think of manicures. Your nails–hands and feet–need pampering too–don’t you agree? Here’s a super do-it-yourself tutorial on painting your nails expertly.

5. Spa Towels

You might wonder what makes the perfect spa towel. Some folks think super plush is the best, others not so.

Better still, try organic waffle weave towels. They absorb better, dry better, and don’t harbor bacteria as much as plush towels. They’re also great for both spa moments and general family use.
