You don’t have to throw out your old garden rake just yet. Instead, upcycle it into a shabby chic DIY Metal Rake Wine Glass Holder.
How to Make a Metal Rake Wine Glass Holder
Having to toss a good and faithful garden tool is a terrible thing. That is why I love this do-it-yourself project using a discarded metal rake. Not only does it breathe life into a worn out rake, but the results are stunning.
Moreover, it’s one of those projects that definitely show how simple it is to upcycle old or outdated materials. And, best of all, this wine glass holder can easily be made in less than a day.

This beautiful metal wine glass holder (see below) was made by my dad and stepmom. I love the aged feel and simple anchor approach. If you love this shabby chic idea and want to recreate this project yourself, follow along with this tutorial.
What You Will Need
Broken Rake Head
3 inch screw or bolt with washer
Handsaw
Drill or screwdriver
Pliers (optional)
Hammer (optional)
Sandpaper or steel wool (optional)
Instructions
1. Remove the handle completely or cut just above the metal or plastic holder, leaving some handle intact.
2. Straighten out any bent tines using pliers or hammer.
3. Remove rust and debris with steel wool and/or fine sandpaper. After this, I like to use linseed oil as a metal treatment. It keeps rusting for the most part at bay, especially when using with stemware.
4. Attach to wall using a self-taping screw or bolt with washer. With this type of rake it’s easily attached to one of the internal studs.
Crafting Tip: You might need to drill a pilot hole into the center of the metal brace prior to attaching to wall.
