I hate boring exercises. And, I really hate having to repeat them day after day. But there’s one exercise equipment that I love for its versatility and fun. The exercise ball.

Woman Doing Stretches

Years ago I got an exercise ball from my best friend and I have loved using it ever since.

The reason? It allows me to play while working out.

Which Exercise Ball Is Best for You?

Exercise balls, also known as yoga balls or Pilates balls, come in a variety of sizes.

The smaller ones can be used for toning more specific body areas, while the larger ones are used to help improve stability and inner core strength and work with the larger muscle areas.

Exercise balls come in a variety of sizes, so be sure to ask for help when you go out and purchase one for yourself. Note:they are sized in centimeters not inches.

But what if you don’t feel comfortable with a full size ball?

Try a half ball called a Bosu Ball. It still works the core muscles but it allows you more stability.

I like it because it challenges my balance–which can be a bit iffy at times.

Best part of using the Bosu is that you can do most of the same exercises as you would do with the exercise ball, and you can even turn it over and use it for a more intensive balance and core strengthening workout.

Bottom line, if you haven’t tried either the exercise ball or the Bosu ball yet, you need to.

You don’t have to be stuck on just the exercise ball to get fit. In fact, there are so many different types of sports balls that can also be used to help get you back into shape and lose weight at the same time.
