How to Make Asian Sesame Pork Tenderloin Recipe

When you want restaurant-quality Chinese food that you make at home, look no further than this quick and easy recipe for Asian Sesame Pork Tenderloin.

It’s made with tender and lean, pork tenderloin that’s smothered in a rich oriental-inspired sauce and a great main dish alongside Japanese Garlic Noodles and stir-fried Chinese vegetables.

What I like about this recipe is that it’s so easy to make it yourself with most ingredients you probably already have in your pantry at home.

Sesame Seeds – The Star Ingredient

As you might have guessed, sesame seeds are the star ingredient for this recipe, not only because they add a tactile touch but also it imbues an oriental flavor not found with other nuts or seeds.

If you’ve never used sesame seeds before, don’t be afraid to try them. You can usually find both types of sesame seeds (white and black) in the spice aisle at most grocers.

DID YOU KNOW? Sesame seeds are one of the oldest oilseed crop known to man. They come in a variety of colors, including brown, white, black and red. And, they’re used in many regional recipes from Asia, Indian, Mexican and Mediterranean.

And, as an FYI, a little goes a long way. For this recipe, you’ll just sprinkle a pinch or two of both sesame seeds on the finished dish. It’s that easy!

To Make:

Start with these basic ingredients: pork tenderloin, toasted sesame oil, fish sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and green onions.

You’ll also need ground ginger and both white and black sesame seeds.

Cooking Tip: You can also substitute with toasted sesame seeds and chopped fresh ginger for this recipe.

Start by cutting your tenderloin into rounds and then in half. You will need two pounds of pork for this recipe.

Place the meat into a bowl and toss with corn starch.

Prepare a large sided fry pan with toasted sesame oil. Heat for about a minute and then add the coated tenderloin chunks to the pan.

Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix the sauce ingredients.

You will need 1 cup of sauce for this recipe.

Add this to the cooked pork tenderloin.

Stir well and reduce the sauce by cooking for approximately 10 minutes more.

Asian Sesame Pork Tenderloin Recipe

Ingredients

For the Pork:

  • 2 lbs pork tenderloin sliced and halved
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 3 tbsp toasted sesame oil

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • 1 tsp ground ginger

For the Garnish:

  • 1 tbsp black sesame seed
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seed
  • 3 tbsp green onions chopped green only

Instructions

For the Pork:

  • Prepare the pork by cutting the pork tenderloin into rounds and then halve each. Place in a bowl.
  • Next add corn starch and toss.
  • In a large sided fry pan add toasted sesame oil and heat on Medium HI for 1 minute. Add the pork tenderloin.
  • Cook the tenderloin until golden brown, approximately 10 minutes.

For the Sauce:

  • In a bowl, add the brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, garlic, fish sauce and ground ginger. Mix well.
  • Add this to the cooked pork tenderloin and stir.
  • Cook for another 10 minutes or until the sauce has reduced.
  • Remove from heat.

For the Garnish:

  • Garnish with green onions, white and black sesame seeds.
  • Serve alongside Japanese Garlic Noodles or Rice. Serve hot. Enjoy!
